A popular picnic spot of the locals and also frequented by tourists, Phangrei is one of the picturesque tourist spots in Ukhrul. Phangrei also joins the Shirui Hills. It is about 15 Kms from Shirui- around 22 kms from Ukhrul.
One of the best things about visiting Phangrei is that you are blown away by breathtaking views of its surrounding hillocks and vegetation. Phangrei, in particular, is a plain hill top with gentle slopes. Ferns and wild flowers resembling purple daffodils carpet the hilltop.
Buffaloes are left free to graze on the green grass which is best grown during the wet season, i.e. May to October. Phangrei is normally windy and often welcoming to soft drizzles.
